Philly Comedy Round-up, Vol. 22

This week, Comedy Month wraps up with the first annual City Spotlight, a week showcasing many of Philadelphia’s diverse comedic talents. Tonight, the Old Comedy Buffet features all comedians over 40 for a night of classic Philadelphia comedy. Later this week, Pat House hosts In The Beginning…, where comedians will show a video from their early days of comedy and roast themselves making fun of how far they’ve (hopefully) come. Friday night features Broad Comedy, an all female show hosted by Mary Radzinski and Carolyn Busa.

This Tuesday, Face Time with Chip Chantry returns to Helium Comedy Club. This month’s show will feature James Hesky, Brendan Kennedy, Darryl Charles, Glen Tickle, and as always will feature co-host and house band Amir Gollan and Chip Chantry doing the news.

Philly Improv Theater will feature a week of shows they are calling “Pilot Week” which will showcase all new shows looking for a permanent spot in the PHIT lineup. Tonight, Becca Trabin presents Town Hall a debate show in a mock town hall meeting format. Tuesday will feature True? The Roger C. Snair Interview Show hosted by Brendan Kennedy‘s Guilty Pleasures sidekick. Wednesday will be the debut of a new panel comedy show A Few Answers Short.

This Thursday and Friday The Feeko Brothers will present a new show at Philly Improv Theater. Billy and Christian, fresh off their second consecutive Dirtiest Sketch in Philadelphia victory will share the stage with New York sketch group Skinny Bitch Jesus Meeting. Tickets can be purchased in advance online.

Center City Comedy’s Third Anniversary Videos

We told you last week that Center City Comedy would be celebrating it’s third anniversary of Thursday night open mics at the Raven Lounge with a special show that would bring together hosts from open mics all over the city, along with some of Philly’s favorite comics. Well, it happened, and our friends at Super DPS were there to capture the action on video. Below are some clips from the night – and you can see more on Super DPS’ Youtube Page.

Carolyn Busa interviews Mary Radzinski interviews Carolyn Busa

Mary Radzinski: Hey girlfriend!

Carolyn Busa: Hey sister!

MR: So do you have your dress picked out?

CB: For what? Easter’s really late this year…

MR: For Monday!

CB: What’s Monday?

MR: Laughs on Fairmount starts this coming Monday March 14th!

CB: WHAT! Mary, that’s The Bachelor finale. I thought we had plans. ‘Member? you were going to dress up as Emily? Her fiancee died in a plane crash? And you haaate planes.

MR: I thought you were joking about that. Did you really buy a Chantal wig? And yes. I do hate planes.

CB: Yeah.

MR: Kay. Well, Can you DVR it? We have a bunch of people coming. It’s kind of a big deal.

CB: I guess so. The Bachelor can wait. Who needs guys anyway? Am I right?

MR: Heck yeah!

[Mary and Carolyn high five.]

CB: Sigh. I hate men.

MR: Me too. But that’s why Laughs on Fairmount rules because you and I are in charge. No guys to bring us down!

CB: Yeah!

MR: Yeah!

[Mary and Carolyn high five.]

CB: …it’s just I really want them to like us.

MR: Who? Easter’s really late this year.

CB: What? Stop it.

MR: Sorry.

CB: Guys, Mary. We want guys to like us.

MR: What are you talking about? They’re gonna love us! I mean with your red hair and my spray tan, we don’t even have to be funny. We just have to show up.

CB: I guess you’re right. Gosh Mary, how are you so pretty AND smart?

MR: Oh Carolyn!

CB: Oh Mary!

[Mary and Carolyn hug.]

MR: So I’ll see you Monday, then, at Urban Saloon?

CB: Yes! Monday at the Urban Saloon on 2120 Fairmount Ave. Right across from Eastern State Penitentiary! Sign-ups start 7:15, and the show starts at 8PM.

MR: Yeah, Carolyn, calm down, I know all that.

CB: Sorry, WitOut told me to make this staged interview seem informative.

MR. Well done Buse, well done. See you on stage … at 8PM … sign-ups at 7:15 … across from the–

CB: Mary!

MR: Sorry.
