The Return of…Asteroid’s B-Movie Teaser

All through the month of October, Philly Improv Theater House Team Asteroid will present their B Movie format – an improvised tribute show celebrating the fun of the low-budget sci-fi/horror films from the Golden Age of Hollywood. The group has released this second teaser video for their shows.

Asteroid’s B Movie runs all through October at Philly Improv Theater at The Shubin Theater (407 Bainbridge St. Philadelphia). Tickets and schedule for PHIT shows can be found online.

Philly Comedy Round-up, Vol. 58

This week continues Philly Improv Theater’s six week run of shows at The Shubin Theater (407 Bainbridge St.) Shows this week include PHIT House Team Harold Night (featuring King Friday and Hot Dish), Guilty Pleasures, a two-night encore of PHIT’s Sketch Revue, and Luke and Aaron are Taping Their Half Hours. This weeks’ episode of the Comedy Food Sports (link to iTunes)podcast features guests Adam Corolla and J.L. Cauvin. Host Patrick Dodd is joined by Corolla when he calls in to talk about the the abuse of bacon, his new idea for the McRib, unbiased replay officials and he contributes to their weekly “friend enders” segment.  He also promotes his October 13th show with the brilliant Dennis Prager here in Philly at the Kimmel Center.

The line-up for the November 1st Camp Woods Plus has been announced and it is a must see for fans of Philadelphia sketch comedy. Joining Camp Woods on stage at L’etage (624 S. 6th St. Philadelphia) will be Philadelphia’s longest running consistently active sketch group Secret Pants as well as the return of Meg & Rob for their first show together since Meg Favreau moved to Los Angeles last year.

Jim Grammond has been writing a series of “Tales Of Classic Concerts That Never Happened For Popular Alternative Bands I’ve Never Listened To” for his It’s Dumb Bullshit and it’s All Mine tumblr. You can read them online (Volume One, Volume Two). You can also see Jim perform in the encore performance of PHIT’s Sketch Revue, this Thursday and Friday at 8:30.

Free Improv at Connie’s Ric Rac returns tomorrow night (doors open at 8, show at 9, 1132 S. 9th St.) with their October Halloween show. This month’s line-up will feature performances from: Deleted Scenes, Nielsen, We’re In!, Bad James, Cock Hat, Steve Rogers is Dead, Kait and Andrew, and Monsterlogues. Don’t miss the free, spooky fun!
