Tonight, Helium Comedy Club will host auditions for the Just for Laughs comedy festival. Ten of Philly’s best stand-ups will take the stage to perform for representatives looking for comedians for their annual New Faces showcase in Montreal. The monthly Free Improv at Connie’s Ric Rac returns to the South Philly venue tonight where eight of the best improv groups in the city will take the stage for 15 minute sets. Tonight’s show will feature the comedy of Bed Savage, Kait and Andrew, Deleted Scenes, Horner and Davis, Gross Butler , Mayor Karen, Hate Speech Committee, and one yet-to-be-named team.
Improv group Nielsen is holding auditions for new team members. Auditions will be held next Monday, December 12th from 7:30 – 9:30 PM at a West Philadelphia location. Interested parties should contact Andy Moskowitz at firstname.lastname@example.org
This Saturday will mark the final performance of Philly Improv Theater house team Fletcher. The group is retiring after a long and successful run together and PHIT is sending them out with the longest house team night of the year. All six house teams will perform, starting at 7 PM (King Friday and Hey Rube) continuing at 8:30 (Mayor Karen and ZaoGao) and finishing at 10:00 (Asteroid and Fletcher). The late night improv jam will be hosted by Fletcher, and promises to be a fitting farewell party.
Voting for the 2011 Witout Awards is coming to a close. Philadelphia performers will have until Friday, December 16 to cast their vote for the 14 award categories. Plans are being made for the award ceremony/party and will be announced soon.
Submissions are still open for Top Five of 2011 lists for Witout.net. Any interested person can compile a list of their top five favorite things from any area of comedy, either local to Philadelphia or anywhere in the world and submit them for the site to run in the final few weeks of the year.
