Comedy Around the Web, Vol. 1

In our new series, we will take a look at comedy and comedy related news from around the internet in the past week. If you have a story you’d like us to link to, email us at contact@witout.net

Sadly, the top story of the comedy world this week was the death of Patrice O’Neal, after suffering a stroke this past October. Comedians reacted to the news on the web with their memories and admiration of the much loved O’Neal. Comedy Central released this tribute, and it has been announced that they are working on a larger tribute. Sandpaper Suit posted some thoughts, and linked to two interviews with O’Neal. Luke Giordano wrote this piece for Everything You Like is Stupid, and it was announced that a posthumous album from O’Neal will be released next year. A sad week for comedians and fans of comedy.

Nominations for the Grammy Awards were announced this week prompting Laughspin to write this article praising the quality of the nominations for this year’s Best Comedy Album.

Laughspin also released their list of the 10 Best Comedy Albums of 2011.

In Philly related news the trailer for Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie was released this week. You can watch the red band trailer here.

Sandpaper Suit wrote this piece about one of my favorite movies of all time, Groundhog Day.

Splitsider posted this email exchange between Marc Maron and Bob Lefsets on the business of podcasting. It’s a good read for people interested in the business behind new content formats.
